bonampak
This mural is a recreation of one of the murals inside the ancient ruins of Bonampak, Chiapas, Mexico. Three rooms within the main structure at this archaeological site are covered with colorful, vivid murals from top to bottom, including on the arched ceilings. These frescoes are considered the most elaborate, sophisticated, and well-preserved murals of the Maya civilization. This mural was commissioned by Museo De Las Americas in Denver Colorado and serves as the background to the museum’s permanent collection of pre-Columbian artifacts.
