Nopal/Cactus - Planta de Malinalli
This sculptural installation represents a Nopal, or Cactus, in relation to the traditional Mexican philosophy of Malinalli. Malinalli is a Mexican Nahuatl word meaning “Braids of the Earth”. It is believed that Malinalli is the origin of all plants; physically composed of medicine and spiritually connected to the center of our galaxy. The visual emphasis aims to capture the movement and graphic symbolism of Malinalli, along with the traditional composition of the Mexican cactus.
