DENVER — A mural in the Sun Valley neighborhood of Denver has been a meaningful part of the community for more than a decade. But earlier this year, the tenants leasing the building, under new ownership, painted over the mural.
"There are a lot of people supporting this mural who want to see it come back and see everything be fixed. It’s not going to go away," Garcia said.

The Restoration
Since this incident, the local tenants have agreed to pay for the restoration of the mural. I will be working with local and national organizations as well as with the community to restore this mural to its original form. This will be the first time in the history of Colorado, that a mural will be restored after being white washed. This process will involve careful and delicate removal of subsequent layers until the original artwork is revealed using highly specialized materials and equipment.
