Love Language / Yolotl Tlahtoa
The title of this art installation is, “Love Language,” or, “Yolotl Tlahtoa,” in Nahuatl, the native language of Mexico. “Love language,” is a visual art installation that symbolizes the complexity, beauty, identity, passion and strength of linguistic expression. The entire piece is inspired by tribal pictography, my love language. In my tradition, “Love language,” or “Yolotl Tlahtoa,” is also a metaphor for the manifestation of our goals and dreams. This installation honors the traditions and identity of marginalized communities, with emphasis on highlighting the identity and voice of Latin/LatinX/Chicano/Mexicano/Native American communities. The symbolic voice of this artwork or “Love Language,” also encompasses graphic design/imagery that speaks to social issues, environmental issues, as well as issues involving self-identity and expression. Give what you love a voice.
