El Milagro De Tepeyac
The title of this mural composition is “El Milagro” or “The Miracle”. This mural is a creative interpretation of the story of Clinica Tepeyac. I particularly find this story inspiring because of my own personal family connection with Clinica Tepeyac’s history, as well as the impact it has had on the Latino community of Denver. I was especially interested in depicting the dedicated community/people who’ve helped build Clinca Tepeyac from its past to the present. My vision was to depict a series of characters in action, express their human emotions, instinct, curiosity and creativity. My goal was to highlight these people in honor of their contributions, achievements, struggles, resilience and determination. Additionally, it is very important that I incorporate the presence of water in this mural due to the close proximity this artwork will has to the Platte River. I believe that water can serve as a symbol for the preservation of our natural resources and will honor the presence and importance of Mother Nature within the urban landscape. Furthermore, I wanted to highlight the interrelation between Olive and Clinica Tepeyac in a way that is symbolic of their intrinsic relationship with one another.
